Where Characters Gather

The Killing Tide by Dani Pettrey is the first book in the Coastal Guardians series. It is Christian romantic suspense.

A drug lord attempts to murder a reporter, who is then brought home by her Coast Guard older brother to protect her life. Gabby is furious and reluctant to return home to face Finn, a team member of her brother Noah, whom she fled mere months ago for the reporter job and to protect her heart from admitting she was in love with Finn. Danger follows Gabby and little does Noah realize the dangerous situation he is bringing Gabby home to face.

This book took me well over a week to read. It isn’t long, 350 pages, and while there was noise from house construction it shouldn’t have impacted my ability to read. The story did not draw me in, despite the short chapters. Too much happened off the page for the romance before the book ever opened and the action was very uneven. I failed to connect to any of these characters and I never found the story line enjoyable or believable. Another Christian romantic suspense with an unbelievable romance under life threatening circumstances.

I have books two and three awaiting me on my shelves. I am in no hurry to pick them up to be honest. I don’t know who I would recommend the book to either. There are other series by the author and I am not inclined to read them either.
